Description
The IC687BEM744 is a dual-channel FIP/WorldFIP bus controller for the ALSPA C80-75 multifunction controller. Installed in one slot of an IC697 VME Integrator rack, it operates at 2.5 Mbit/s and can connect either a single FIP medium or two channels forming a redundant bus.
The module manages cyclic exchanges with remote I/O devices, buffers data between the FIP macrocycle and the MFC processor scan, and forwards device and bus diagnostics to the C80-75 alarm-processing function. The FIP network can serve C80-75 or C80-35 controllers, remote I/O stations and compatible third-party devices.
The BEM744 incorporates 2 MB of RAM and 2 MB of Flash memory. It is configured through Windows-based engineering software without DIP switches or jumpers, while its RS-485 service port supports in-system firmware updates. With shielded twisted-pair cabling, the 2.5 Mbit/s version supports up to 500 m per segment and 2,000 m per network, with up to 32 devices per segment and three repeaters per network.
