Communication protocols

ICSS has a deep experience in communication protocols, including:

  • Modbus (RS232/RS485 and TCP).
  • IEC101 and IEC104.
  • DNP3.
  • Profibus.
  • OPC.
  • VPN and remote connections.

We are performing various tasks related with communication protocols, such as:

  • Engineering.
  • Implementing new connections with new systems (dispatching, PLCs…).
  • Troubleshooting: communication not working or periodically failing.
  • Changes on existing links: adding new exchanges, writing of customized tools to automatically add exchanges when required.
  • Implementing redundancy and dealing with redundancy-management issues.
  • Performing protocol conversion or data-merging (for instance, several IEC101 links merged in a single redundant DNP3 link).
  • Implementing new logic or new functional blocks on the control system for protocol exchanges.

ICSS has tools to perform on-site debugging of the protocol layer (protocol analyzers, data recorders) as well as the signal layer (oscilloscope).

On-site debugging of Modbus link between Alspa and Siemens PLCs using oscilloscope and automated RS232 signal decoding.

Using ASE2000 to emulate Modbus master and check the answers from the RTU to specific requests.

Our deep experience with Alstom and GE-branded products allow us to offer particularly efficient support when interfacing with these systems. Don’t hesitate to contact us to know more.
